A Dark Inheritance: A Review

This book was a random pick and took a couple of reviews for me to give it a shot. A Dark Inheritance is one of those mind-boggling tales. The story builds up gradually from the beginning through various rising actions. Protagonist Michael’s father goes missing. As he grapples to come to terms with it Michael happens to rescue a Dog under extraordinary circumstances. Amadeus Klimt, the notorious head of the organization Unicorne, claims to know Michael’s dad and literally teaches him to move across time.

The rest of the plot revolves around Michael’s attempt to understand the mysterious death of a girl named Rafferty. When the plot unfolds further, Rafferty’s heart seems to be in Freya. With his developing ability, Michael continues the quest of his missing father and wishes to help Freya and Rafferty simultaneously. The climax takes place around a cliff and is literally a cliff-hanger followed by a big tragedy (Spoiler Alert).

Verdict

Being the first book of the series it is quite difficult to understand the entire plot. However, A Dark Inheritance would be a delightful read for the early teens whereas seasoned readers of Children Fiction and YAL (Young Adult Fiction) might feel a bit stretchy. None can be sure of the genre. This would be a problem. So, I’ll give it 3.5/5.
