Making sense of Life-Suicide is not the solution

It’s been nearly 8 years since she walked into the classroom, and I remember the first time she did.She was a gentle young professor, and we were all curious to know about her. But the first thing she said was to switch off the fan.

She kept requesting us to switch off the fan for the next two years. We obliged some times, and other times we switched it on when she was engrossed in her teaching. The memories come with a tinge of pain. No one knew this frail being was tormented.

As the days went by, we came to understand her true self. She was kind, yet not stable. Her expectations of herself and others were beyond reason.

After her marriage, her mental anguish became evident. Her husband was a good and understanding person, but for her, he was not enough. She wanted him to be powerful and rich, probably like many girls.

I left college to pursue my Masters at another college. I did not have much contact with her. She was blessed with a young boy. Life appeared to be going well for her until she decided to abandon her son, husband, and dreams and enter oblivion.

It is painful that she took her life. Her smile, her memories are all that exist now. Making sense of life can be hard sometimes, but we still need to face life with courage and hope. Everything is not going to be okay, but we can still try to live a life that is remembered by all. People are suffering around us, and do not now simply believe that they are happier than us. They might be going through a lot and we might never even know that. Thus, be kind. If you are going through mental depression get help soon.

  1. Yes. True. Suguna was a Gold medalist and an intellectual person. I also motivated and suggested her about the positivity of a working environment. Unfortunately, she was thinking only on pessimistic things. Her demise was a shock and it was painful for some months.
May her soul attain the salvation and it’s really good to know that you (students) are still remembering her.

  2. Yes, a good and a talented person. A lovable friend to me. Her loss is really a terrible one. May her soul rest in peace. Students are still remembering her is a great.
