“You guys smell”- Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3- Review

Diary of Wimpy kid review

I’d definitely felt left out in my schooldays. Though not a cool kid by any means, I used to hang out with my cool friends. Nerdy, but pathetic in studies had put me in terrible situations. Eventually, I found solace in what was easy for me, reading of course, where I was a hero in the stories.

My imagination helped me get through the difficult teenage phase of life. After all these years, I seemed to have enjoyed my school days, most of them in solitude, and had some really momentous friends.

The book that stirred this reminiscence was Jeff Kinney’s The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw. It made me relive my teenage self giving a close-to-home-feeling. This is undoubtedly as entertaining as the first two books and the movie that I watched some time back.

Why is this so popular?

It’s simply because we can connect ourselves with Grey, Roderick and Rowley. In fact, they reflect us in many aspects. Though Grey has good intentions he seems to mess up things and gently persuade Roy towards mischief so he can get away with. We can never miss his annoying big brother, though. I can associate myself more with Rowley, the poor innocent kid being used by everyone. Oh! That’s so me in school.

Illustrations

The strength of this book relies on these illustrations and I really love them. They keep the reader chuckling. The audio book version too explained the illustrations so people who listen wouldn’t miss out the jokes.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid review.

The subtle humor and simple narration of the kid make this book great. I’ve also written a diary (a book I mean). Check it out here.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a great story that every kid should read. But my presumption is that parents would enjoy this book more. Hope to read the entire series. I am giving 4.5/5 for  this light-hearted goofy book.
